Hole 1

253 Yards, Par 4

A straightforward opening hole up the hill with bunkers either side of the fairway, so requires an accurate first tee shot to hit the middle of the fairway. This will leave you a short iron into the green.

Watch out for the ditch running across the front of the green and the bunker to the right.

Hole 2

136 Yards, Par 3

Relatively short hole, but its all up hill to the elevated green.

Better off right than left of the green, as it all runs down the hill and will leave you a tricky chip back to the pin.

Hole 3

366 Yards, Par 4

This is actually a driveable hole with the wind behind. Just important to hit the fairway and leave that short iron to the green. It’s a steep slope to the green and the wrong shot will have you running through the green and down the small bank at the back.

This hole crosses over with the 8th fairway.

Hole 4

344 Yards, Par 4

A straight hole with O.B on the left and thick rough to the right.

A good straight drive sets you up nicely. With a ditch running 40 yards in front of the green and bunker on the right hand banking before the green an accurate 2nd shot is a must.

Hole 5

346 Yards, Par 4

Another straight hole with O.B on the left, but to the right leaves you with a tricky uphill lie.

Bunkers left & right on the fairway at around 200yards. Target is a green that runs right to left, surrounded by thick rough. Being short is sometimes better than long.

Hole 6

153 Yards, Par 3

This is what you can see, but with the wind against could be two clubs more than you think.

Watch out for that bunker to the right and the green has a couple of interesting pin positions on the slopes.

Hole 7

410 Yards, Par 4

Stated as the hardest hole on the course. A good tee shot down past the telegraph pole is a must to give you a chance of hitting the green.

If you want to be brave you can slightly shoot over the right hand tree to the left of the telegraph pole to drop into the ideal landing zone.

2nd shot leads to into a small green, but beware of the banking on the left and to the right with a falling gradient could leave you on the 4th fairway. A bogie is not a bad score.

Hole 8

472 Yards, Par 5/4

Head for the left side of fairway (shared with the 3rd hole). O.B to the right protecting the 3rd green & practice area.

When heading to the green you want to be aiming slightly left as everything falls to the right. Again the green falls left to right, so don’t be surprised to be putting or chipping back up to the flag.

Hole 9

280 Yards, Par 4

Tee shot should see you nicely in the fairway, but watch out for that tree just left of the tee box and for those big hitters the ditch 40 yards in front of the green will come into play.

Depending on the pin position the centre of the green is the best shot. This is a very sweeping & rolling green, so don’t be surprised to have 3 putts.

Hole 10

168 Yards, Par 3

Hitting up to one of the largest greens on the course, but again depending on the wind direction could be a couple of clubs more. Short right is better than long left here!

Hole 11

419 Yards, Par 4

This hole shares the fairway with the 15th. O.B over the wall on the left, but the best shot is at the bunker to the left with a slight fade. Too long left or right could see you blocked out by the trees with no second shot.

2nd shot ideally to the top of the dip will see the ball nicely onto the green. Hitting the green could see you through the back and chipping back up the bank.

Hole 12

356 Yards, Par 4

Centre of the fairway is essential, with trees eitherside and with bunkers left & right. This fairway always falls to the right.

A good iron shot into probably the largest green on the course will set you up nicely.

158 Yards, Par 3

A short iron downhill to a back to front sloping green. Better to be short for a uphill putt rather than long.

174 Yards, Par 3

A good iron shot back up the hill, but plays longer than you think. Watch out for the O.B to the right next to the road.

Hole 15

388 Yards, Par 4

Known as the hardest tee shot on the course with O.B over the wall to the right and a 220yard carry to beat the wall at the corner.

A good 2nd shot needed to hit the small island green surrounded by 4 bunkers.

Hole 16

193 Yards, Par 3

Noted as one of the hardest par 3 holes in Yorkshire, even on a calm day. A good tee shot needed not only to get the distance, but also the height with a 40 foot embankment 100yards in front of the tee box.

And don’t be fooled this green is double tiered with a ridge line running across it.

Hole 17

131 Yards, Par 3

Shortest hole on the course but still needs an accurate tee shot to the find green at the top of the hill.

Too long and you are through the green and probably in the bunker at the back. Too short and you could be back down the hill. Simply admire the view when you reach the green.

Hole 18

401 Yards, Par 4

A lovely finishing hole back to the Clubhouse, it is what you see.

For the big hitters in the summer its driveable. However be careful with the wind, as many end up down the 1st or even 8th fairways. Safe play is to the middle of the fairway. Too long and it could be an awkward downhill lie to the green with the fence to the back being O.B
